The medieval fortified village of Chatili is prodigious: at an altitude of 2,000 m, it is an aul dating from the High Middle Ages. In the heart of the Arghouni valley, this complex of stone and mortar houses, dwellings while being an integral part of the defence system, is exceptional. Sixty watchtowers form a fortress. It is perfectly preserved and is deserved, after more than ten hours by Jeep. Emptied of its inhabitants (at the time when it was used as a setting for the glory of Georgian cinema) in the 1950s, they returned at the end of the 1970s, but by founding, next to the aoul, the "new Chatili" which has some infrastructure (school, police station). They take care of the old Chatili, which is well preserved and prepared to welcome tourists. Only a few houses of the aoul are inhabited, the others are like an ethnographic village. But what a beauty! It is necessary to walk, discover, survey, photograph... The whole of old Chatili is candidate to the list of the world heritage of UNESCO.
