The interior of New Providence Island is covered with large pine forests and hills. The white sandy beaches, often ignored by tourists and forgotten by international groups, line the coast bathed in translucent waters. On the south coast, the only tourist pole is Adelaide which has the very select Albany Resort Club. This peaceful village was originally populated by freed Africans. Here life goes on at a gentle pace, as in Lyford Cay, its neighbour, a very exclusive enclave where many celebrities find a discreet refuge. Sean Connery, for example, who has a home here, resides here for much of the year.
