Located on the northwestern tip of the island, 29 kilometers west of Nicholls Town, about half an hour by road, Red Bay is a picturesque fishing village. It is still inhabited today by descendants of the Seminole Indians of Florida who sought refuge on the island during the 19th century when Florida became a U.S. territory and landowners wanted to remove them in favor of expanding their lands. They still live there in the traditional way and make beautiful basketry and wood carvings that delight visitors. There is no accommodation on site.
