In a prestigious setting, the former episcopal palace of Bayeux, the MAHB is a reference museum in Normandy. It has a remarkable scenography with 14 different atmospheres. Visitors discover at their own pace the wealth of collections presented chronologically from prehistory to the 20th century. Among the highlights, the Bayeux lace in the superb bishops' room, the Renaissance chapel or the porcelain under a contemporary glass roof.

Information on MUSEUM OF ART AND HISTORY BARON GÉRARD (MAHB)

Closed on the afternoon of December 24 and December 25. Annual closure from 31 December afternoon to 31 January. Open from February 1st to April 30th and from October 1st to December 30th from 10am to 12:30pm and from 2pm to 6pm. December 31, morning only. From May 1st to September 30th from 9:30 am to 6 pm. Last admission 45 minutes before the museum closes. Free for children under 10 years old. Adults: 7,50 € (reduced: 5,50 €). Children: 5 € (students and schoolchildren). Groups (20 people): €5.50. Combined tickets with the Bayeux Tapestry or the Battle of Normandy Memorial: €12 full price (€10 reduced); triplet ticket: MAHB + Tapestry + Memorial Museum: €15 full price (€13.50 reduced). Holiday vouchers. Children's activities (workshops, touch-screen tablets...). Guided tour. Animations.

Instructif

Un très beau musée, complet, sur l'Histoire de Bayeux ; il y en a a pour tous les goût et petits et grands pourront être séduits par les différentes salles et expositions. Le plus impressionnant à mes yeux reste la salle du Tribunal.

Un très joli musée dont les pièces de collection sont judicieusement mises en valeur. La beauté du lieu ne fait que rendre la visite plus agréable. Le personnel est agréable. Quelques œuvres de grands maîtres. A visiter absolument si vous passez à Bayeux. Surprise de la visite : la salle du tribunal et La Chapelle.

On ne s'attend pas à trouver un musée d'art aussi abouti à Bayeux, mais il surprend d'un bout à l'autre de son cheminement en mélant histoire et art.

Un musée à taille humaine, une muséographie moderne, un parcours historique du Ier siècle à nos jours: le MAHB vous réserve une visite des plus intéressantes. J'ai été particulièrement touchée par la salle de l'histoire de la dentelle.
