Hotel with bright rooms offering a breathtaking view of Bayeux near the cathedral and on the banks of the River Aure.

A perfect location for this hotel on the banks of the Aure, a stone’s throw from the cathedral and the Tapestry. At Anne-Sophie and Emerick’s, the dapper rooms offer a breathtaking view of Bayeux. And there is an annex! Queen Mathilde’s little sister has king-size beds and huge bathrooms. In addition, it is next to the tearoom with a terrace, where you can enjoy a peaceful breakfast on sunny mornings. A certain idea of happiness.

Solid food (recommend the muscles...moules & fries). Is the only restaurant in town that serves dinner before 7:00 p.m. because it is essentially catering primarily to tourists (it is right next to City Hall (the Hotel d'Ville). The service is not as friendly as you might expect for a place that deals with tourists, but was sufficient. We went because our tour guide recommended it and had a perfectly acceptable meal, though not excellent.

The food items varied from mediocre to disgusting for taste. It was significantly overpriced for what we received.

A CULINARY ATROCITY. The Normand Burger I ordered literally tasted like how horse shit smells, the fries were way overcooked, my mother ordered a chicken caesar salad that was not cooked enough and pink in the middle, and lettuce was cheap frozen and rubbery. While telling the manager that we did not care for the food he got arrogant. Saying: “nobody else has a problem with the food so it must just be you”. And: “you must have no taste for fine food” etc. Once we went to get the bill immediately after the managers pompous comments we had to speak to the cashier who was fine but said if we wanted the price off the bill that he would have to speak to his manager. Lo and behold it is the same manager that can do no wrong from before. We ask him to remove the overpriced meals from the receipt but only does it after one more smart ass remark. “Sorry, but uh if everyone else likes it then it shouldn’t be a problem (while gesturing to everyone outside smoking and drinking cocktails)”. Then I chime in and say it is absolutely a problem and say just remove it. He does with great pomposity and that was it. Would have paid $100 to these guys who won’t let you even criticize them if I didn’t put up with their outrageous behavior.
