Hotel with bright rooms offering a breathtaking view of Bayeux near the cathedral and on the banks of the River Aure.

A perfect location for this hotel on the banks of the Aure, a stone’s throw from the cathedral and the Tapestry. At Anne-Sophie and Emerick’s, the dapper rooms offer a breathtaking view of Bayeux. And there is an annex! Queen Mathilde’s little sister has king-size beds and huge bathrooms. In addition, it is next to the tearoom with a terrace, where you can enjoy a peaceful breakfast on sunny mornings. A certain idea of happiness.

Terrible food. Don't go here.

We had the heirloom tomato salad with pesto and burrata and the thai style mussels with fries.

Tomato salad:
The tomatos where the most watery tomatoes imaginable tasting off, a bit like shitty water. And that is saying something as I am Dutch and we are the inventors of terrible water tomatoes. Also it lacked seasoning, a dressing, no olive oil. Also the pesto tasted like nothing. You just cannot ask 18 euros for this.

Mussels:
Overcooked, just two spoons of some sort of curry sauce which was far from enough to coat the mussels. Teribbly soggy fries.

It is a shame that this restaurant charges so much money for such terrible food. By far the worst experience I had in a French restaurant. A lot of Americans eating here. As a European, I feel almost ashamed that this is what we serve our American liberators.

Oh, and also the toilets were not clean.

Don't go to this tourist trap.

Pretty average food but busy with lot of tourists, especially British and Americans. Always busy and you will need to be lucky to find a table here.

We were accommodated without a reservation but were seated at the far end and very windy part of the area. We ordered mussels and duck breast with noodles. The mussels were quite acceptable granted that it was not in season. The duck was quite dry and not juicy. The noodles were not sauted but were bland and tasteless. Lesson for the day: never order an asian cuisine in a french restaurant!

We had just arrived in Bayeux and needed a quick lunch near the hotel before heading out to explore. Our goal was quick, good and easy. Well, we were in France, so the requirement turned into good and easy because there is no quick. We were seated on the patio (most of the restaurant is patio) in the midst of a lively lunch crowd. Our service was good and everything we ordere fit the need and the expectation perfectly. We split some salad, some fries, some cheese and some sausages. All very good. Then for dessert a crepe. This was not a great meal and the patio is a bit hot, but it was still a perfect launch into the French atmosphere. It totally fit the need.
