Museum of contemporary art built to pay tribute to the artwork of Nadir Afonso, a Portuguese artist-painter-sculptor.

Nadir Afonso, a native of Chaves, was a Portuguese artist-painter-sculptor. He died in 2013 at the honorable age of 93. To pay tribute to his work, the city built a contemporary art museum, inaugurated in July 2016. The geometric white building, installed on the banks of the Tâmega, designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, undoubtedly stands out from the scenery. Permanent exhibition on Afonso's work and temporary exhibitions on various themes. A must-see!
