To the north of Avenida dos Descobrimentos, along the quays, the building that houses the municipal mercado is easily recognizable. Ultra-fresh fish delivered direct from the ocean-stalls on the ground floor, fruit and vegetables on the first floor and a great panoramic restaurant (Estrela Do Mar) on the top floor from where you can enjoy a wonderful view. This market, built in 1924 and renovated in 2004, is worth a visit for the fishing port atmosphere. The opportunity to linger also in front of the azulejos panels by the artist Xana and the homage to the poetess Sofia by Mello Andresen.
