This institution offers cultural activities in several areas of Cascais. In particular, a series of museums and other places linked to the city's heritage, grouped together under the name "Bairro dos museus" (Museum Quarter). All can be visited with a day or 3-day ticket. Throughout the year, the Fondation D. Luís I Foundation programs artistic events in a variety of fields: visual arts, music, theater, poetry, literature and thematic encounters. The D. Luís I Foundation invites you to discover the Bairro dos Museus. Luís I Foundation, in collaboration with the municipality of Cascais, to promote the artistic, heritage and natural wealth of the city of Cascais.
This "Museum District" brings together an exceptional range of cultural sites to discover on foot, in a friendly setting between the sea, gardens and historic villas.
The Bairro dos Museus de Cascais is a veritable artistic and heritage hub on the seafront, offering you a wide range of discoveries: history, contemporary art, maritime heritage and exceptional architecture.
Here you'll find
-casa das Histórias Paula Rego, an emblematic museum dedicated to one of Portugal's greatest contemporary artists,
-the Palácio da Cidadela, the museum of the Presidency,
-the Museum of the Sea,
-the Condes de Castro Museum,
-the House of Santa Maria,
-the Lighthouse-Museum of Santa Marta,
-or the Marechal Carmona Park
-and the Municipal Art Gallery.
Each venue offers carefully selected permanent collections and temporary exhibitions, as well as themed guided tours. Children's workshops, conferences and concerts punctuate the program throughout the year, making the Bairro dos Museus a lively space accessible to all.
