With a population of about 35,000, it is the most lively seaside resort on the coast, much frequented in summer by the English and the French. For children, there is a zoo right in front of the Condes de Castro Guimarães Museum. There is also a free little train that runs from May to October. It passes through the train station, the Marechal Carmona Park and the Hotel Cidadela above the city. You can also take a carriage ride around Cascais. During the summer, many concerts and free entertainment take place on a large stage in front of the beach of Ribeira. For beer lovers, there are numerous pubs between Largo Luis de Camões and Largo 5 de Outubro, a promenade that is always crowded and lively in summer. The Cascais tourist office will be able to inform you about all the events and activities in the town.
