In Lisbon, the New Year is celebrated by gathering in the Plaza del Comercio. There are concerts with fireworks after the twelve strokes of midnight. Many Portuguese people come here to celebrate the New Year. Once the concerts and fireworks are over, everyone scatters through the streets of La Baixa, which are full of happy (and often drunk) people. If you have the patience to wait in line, then maybe you can get into one of the clubs on pink street.
