One of the most beautiful and photogenic hospices in the city, originally welcoming pilgrims passing through Groningen
Also known as the Pepergasthuis, this hospice is probably one of the most beautiful and photogenic in the city. It was founded in 1405, and originally welcomed pilgrims passing through Groningen. It was later dedicated to the elderly of the city. The bell of the church dates from 1480. In the 17th century, the hospice also housed lunatics behind the barred windows. The well dates from 1829. Mass is still celebrated there on Sundays at 10:30 am. The dining room and the church can be visited by appointment only.
