MARTINITOREN
Martinitoren, the old gray house, is the pride of all residents, with its first galleries, steps and view.
The Martinitoren, nicknamed "Olle Grieze" (the old gray one), is the pride and joy of all its inhabitants. It was built between 1465 and 1482. At 97 meters high, it is the country's third tallest tower. The first three galleries can be climbed daily. the 311 steps will take you to the top of Groningen, where you can admire the fabulous view... Also worth discovering is the tower's carillon, with no fewer than 49 bells! And if you look closely, one of the bells was pierced by a bullet during the liberation of the city by Canadian forces in April 1945.
