A beautiful building of the provincial states, a great facade of neo-Renaissance style, a very pleasant place
Just behind the Martinikerk is the beautiful building of the provincial states. The large façade dates from 1916 and was designed by architect J.-A. Vrijman in a very successful neo-Renaissance style. The much older facade on the left dates back to 1559 and was transferred from another building to this location. To the left is the smallest street in Groningen, nicknamed Little Mustache. The surrounding garden has the sweet nickname of "Queen's Walk". It is a very pleasant place, a bit out of time.
