Attention, treasure not to be missed! Here is a hofje like no other: the Roodeweeshuis or Burgerweeshuis which was first a cloister, then an orphanage. The origins of this orphanage date back to 1599. The portal, which is still there, dates back to 1627. The particularity of this place lies in its recent renovation and enlargement. The 1989 restoration is an explosive mix of ancient and modern, and it is truly an inspired project that has made it possible to accommodate a retirement home of 55 homes.
