Brabant Gothic church, now used as an exhibition and concert venue in Alkmaar
Built in stone and brick, this Brabantine Gothic church "grote Sint-Laurenskerk" dates from the end of the 15th century. Inside, its beautiful wooden vaults are said to give it exceptional acoustics. Its large organs were built in the 17th century by Jacob van Campen. The church is now used as an exhibition space and concerts are regularly organized. The church has a generous collection of sacred art, some of which is on display in the Rijkmuseum. The church has two renowned organs.
