This place, the true heart of the historic centre, is a compulsory passage during a stay in the city. Its strategic location between several neighbourhoods, between the city's most shopping pedestrian street and its many monuments, makes Dam a rallying point for generations of people and tourists. On the one hand, there is the royal Palace alongside the beautiful Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) on the other side of the monument (phallic form) in memory of the soldiers died during the Second World War.

Une assez grande place traversée par les tramways et avec pas mal de circulation sur le coté. Elle est bordée par le "palais royal" (le roi siège en fait à La Haye), le monument national et de jolies bâtiments. C'est aussi sur cette place que se trouve madame Tussaud ou le musée des records. Le problème c'est qu'une fois vue, on ne peux pas vraiment s'y poser. C'est ici qu'ont lieu les grandes manifestations (Faites foraines, concerts...).

La place est assez grande et est juste devant le palais royal. Le métro passe juste devant et une rue commerçante avec plein de grands magasins part depuis la place.
En revanche, les bâtiments autour sont assez sombres, à cause de la pollution, cela fait perdre de son charme au lieu.

place centrale d'amsterdam, de nombreux pigeons qui y tronent... pas trop de quoi s'y arreter, à part pour regarde le palai royal juste en face!
