A classic not to be missed. This brown café has been serving beer since 1670 in the heart of Spui, the city's literary square. Its counters bring together regulars and visitors alike. The narrow, panelled room with its sawdust-covered floor is always packed with customers, who drink standing shoulder to shoulder, when they're not overflowing onto the square in fine weather. The house serves excellent beer in the Dutch style. The place has a rare photogenic quality, and it's a must to stop by in the middle of winter to warm up.

très belle atmosphère
un des cafés les plus célèbres d'Amsterdam. On est plongé dans le passé avec des décorations en bois et ses tonneaux . Très beau choix de bières!

Si les cafés bruns sont des lieux incontournables lors d'une visite d'Amsterdam, je trouve le Café Hoppe l'un des plus extraordinaires. Totalement hors du temps avec ses murs lambrissés et ses innombrables vieux tonneaux sur lesquels sont inscrits les noms de breuvages oubliés. Large choix de bières, snack et restauration simple (omelettes, ...). Un conseil: préférez l'intérieur si typique à la terrasse impersonnelle
