In the heart of the Jordaan, on an ultra-photogenic canal, lies this brown café, not as old as it looks. Thijssen is frequented by a motley crew, often from the neighborhood, with a nice mix of expats and locals who crowd the terrace in fine weather or around pretty tables while reading the press. You can also dine on small, economical dishes. Beware: on Saturdays after the market, the smell of fish on the terrace is quite unpleasant! A fine address for a quiet breakfast in this typical neighborhood. Continue with the Saturday market.
