Hotel with café/restaurant located in the navy district on Kattenburg Island in Amsterdam, offering a beautiful view.

Located on the island of Kattenburg, the building of Pension Homeland dates from the 1960s. The setting is vintage and warm. The rooms are very comfortable, with beautiful views and in each one, a painting by Jan Verburg on the walls. On the first floor there is a very nice café/restaurant and a home-made microbrewery. The surroundings are superb, with the lawns and the swimming pool of Marineterrein: a real oasis in the center of Amsterdam. It's an address like we like: pleasant and creative, in a neighborhood that is out of the ordinary.

For the money, incomparable. Clean, secure, great staff and restaurant, good wifi and views. Couldn't get the room temp right - either too hot or too cold. Would go back though.

This hotel is not your average hotel and quite different from what most of us would expect from a hotel. My wife and I stayed at this hotel for five nights in May and loved it. We also got two different coupes to join us there. When we return to Amsterdam we will stay at this hotel again. Why won't I give it a 5-star? It would be misleading to present or perceive this hotel as a 5-star hotel. The staff is 5-star, from reception to the cleaning crew. We left the hotel one morning when someone was cleaning the entrance way. I excused myself and the gentleman stopped and very politely waved me through and asked me where I was going. "The Museum District." "Walking?" "Yes." At that he put his tools away and walked with us a bit to make sure we were going in the right direction. It was the same with the lady who cleaned our room. I was having a cup of tea in the social room on our floor and she engaged me in a conversaton and gave me suggestions where to go in Holland for our next trip. While waiting for our friends to show up we walked around the hotel and got into the kitchen more or less by accident. Would you believe the chef gave us a small snack on the house? The restaurant at this hotel was packed with locals for dinners. The food was good and reasonably priced. Another advantage of this hotel is that the hotel is surrounded by open space with a small community park in front of the hotel and we met and talked with some locals there. The drawback of this hotel, one of our freinds complained about it, was the rooms were small and furnished minimally but it was clean and everything worked. Ah, the price was right. Oh, one more thing, we walked everywhere from our hotel. With the exception of the Maritime Museum which is a few minutes away, all other attratons are at least 25 minutes away if you walk.

Hier gibt es einen ausgezeichneten Cappuccino ????????
Das Ambiente und alles ist in die Jahre gekommen. Wer das mag fühlt sich wie in die 70 Jahre zurück katapultiert.
