A village created in 1823 by the Missionaries Society of London, to discover as a museum of architecture. Philippolis is proud to have seen the birth of Laurens van der Post, a success writer translated into the whole world, the "African guru" of Prince Charles. On foot, we admire the church of the Griqua mission (see Pays Country in Kimberley), typical Karoo houses and the Victorian library. It was in the vicinity that the controversial Project Tiger Moon Sanctuary was launched to rehabilitate the wild life of Asian tigers from different zoos - www.philippolis.org.za
