The village of Cebreiro is probably the most exposed to wind and snow in Galicia. It is nevertheless a village of character, made up of superb Celtic huts of dry stone and thatch(pallozas), grouped around a solid IXth century church. Nobody lives in these pallozas anymore, which are now declared national monuments. In high season, almost 1,000 people a day pass through the village. It is possible to find refuge for the night in the monastery next to the church. In the surrounding area, a few peasants still live in the old houses, but the new generation does not continue the tradition.
