Located 1h30 from Brisbane, Toowoomba became a centralized farm town and a resort for Brisbane residents in the early 20th century. The buildings on Russel Street still bear witness to this era. Today, with over 118,000 people, the city is one of the largest regional centers in Queensland. Toowoomba is known for its green spaces: the Japanese theme garden Ju Raku En and Queens Park are beautiful examples. Every spring, the city also celebrates the Carnival of Flowers, a flower festival featuring floral arrangements, food, wine tasting and music.
