Although Moreton Island offers many sandy roads and unspoilt nature to explore by 4x4, it has remained much less touristy than its popular sister island. Nevertheless, you can reach it by MiCat ferry (moretonislandadventures.com.au) or via the many excursions organized daily by competent agencies. Numerous hiking trails take you through landscapes of bare sand, forests, lakes, swamps and the long 30 km surf beach to the east. A 4x4 vehicle is a must for getting around. Last but not least, the island has plenty of adrenalin in store: you can even go sandboarding- laughter guaranteed!
