This beautiful green and sandy island is easily accessible thanks to its bridge built in the 1960s. Also known under the aboriginal name of Boorabee, the island is 86% covered and protected by a national park. You will find a great variety of fauna and flora: dolphins, dugongs, turtles, more than 300 species of birds, kangaroos, emus and dingoes. Accommodation styles are varied, ranging from camping to 4-star. Bribie's current name comes from a former European convict named Breiby who came to the island in the 1930s. He married an Aboriginal woman and stayed on his adopted land until his death.
