It's nicknamed "Turtle Bay". Clearly, the turtles have not taken offence at the development of tourism on the coast. After all, the village of Laganas is also home to a number of resorts, bars and nightclubs. To find some peace and quiet, and not to further burden the poor shellfish, you have to go to Keri, 10 km to the south. This hilltop village was relatively unscathed by the earthquake and the visitors. They come mainly in the evening, to admire the sunsets over the pebbly beach of Limni and the rocky islets of Mizithres, near the lighthouse, 2 km away.
