16 kilometres south-east of Chora, surrounded by olive groves, this village is located at the end of a peninsula surrounded by beaches. In the surroundings, there are long stretches of fine sand of Gerakas, Banana, Porto Zoro, Porta Roma, Aghios Nikolaos, with a predilection for that of Mavrantzi. In Vassilikos you can visit the churches of Aghios Nikolaos and Panaghia i Dakreyroussa (the Weeping Madonna), decorated with beautiful frescoes. On the sea side, you will also come here to learn all about the Caretta caretta, the turtles that have become the emblem of the island and that lay their eggs on the large sandy beaches of Zakynthos. Symbol of the island, the loggerhead turtle Caretta caretta is indeed in danger.
