The ruins of the once luxurious city of Pella are a stop on any tour of greater Macedonia. After all, Pella was chosen by Archelaus to be the capital of Macedonia from the 4th century BC. Philip II fortified it before leaving to conquer the Greek territory. This period corresponds to the apogee of Pella. Still under excavation, the site lacks facilities for visiting, but the discoveries made there are splendid and exciting. Archaeologists are concentrating their efforts on the acropolis of the city, in order to bring to light the palace of Philip II where Alexander was born. Getting there. By bus (www.ktelmacedonia.gr).
