Kozani is a city of 30,000 inhabitants that played an important role in the Greek uprising against the Ottoman Empire in 1821. Since the 16th century, it has been a recognized commercial and intellectual center. Today, the old quarters having been demolished, it unfortunately does not have much character anymore. Kozani is not what you would call a tourist destination and is therefore not very well equipped to receive visitors. But you should know that it has an ethnographic museum. Getting there. Accessible by bus (www.ktelmacedonia.gr), by train (trainose.gr) and by plane from Athens (about one flight a week to Filippos airport in Petrana).
