The site of the ancient Ptolemais extends along the hill at the end of the road crossing the village of Darsya. But before you arrive, the road passes through an impressive square mausoleum by the sea. A little path leads to the left, take it because the panorama deserves a detour. The mausoleum dates from the th century BC, the era of the domination of the Lagides (kings of Egypt) on the Greek world of Cyrenaica. We must imagine that two floors plus a summit complete the huge building! Take the road then take on the left to enter the village of Darsya: The new village, followed by some remains, followed by the former Italian village at the end of which the Ptolemais Museum is located on the right. In the café on the right of the museum, you can get the services of a tour guide (50 DL) and buy its entrance ticket for the archaeological site. To access the site, you must follow the path along the museum and the coast towards the hills. Ptolemais is a vast site where the interesting remains are relatively spaced: take a minimum of 2 hours of sightseeing.
