Behind Place Jelačić, the large central market is not to be missed. Its origins date back to the 1930s, when the upper and lower cities were still battling it out. Every day, especially on Saturdays, it's a lively and colorful place. Small farmers, market gardeners, butchers, fishmongers, florists, woodworkers, junk dealers... each with their own stall. A bakery for burek, pizzas, sandwiches and a coffeshop (Broom44).

Proud of its long history, the bakery celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2021. 1961, the Mikelec family started baking bread in their house in Dubravica (Zagreb region). 1962, first deliveries to the capital. 1963, thestand mixer replaces manual kneading. 2001, first stall on the market in Zaprešić. 2012, the first shop opens on Gajeva Street. Today, with about 30 bakeries in Zagreb, the production expands to various products, multigrain breads with spring water, sandwiches, bureks, pizzas, salads, cakes and pastries.
