Airline and services
3/5
1 review

The airport is about 15 kilometers from the city center and serves most major European cities. The reception fordomestic and international flights is on the first floor, near the service areas (currency exchange, tourist counter, book area, car rental, etc.). City buses leave every half hour for the Zagreb bus station. The trip takes 30 minutes and costs €4 (about €33 by cab).

RADIO TAKSI ZAGREB

Taxi and VTC

A cab service in and around the city that does not only register the request for a ride! On the website of Radio Taksi Zagreb you will find a price simulator, which will show you an amount depending on your destination. The company provides transportation 24 hours a day. The charge per passenger is €1.30 + €0.80 per kilometer. It is therefore necessary to count around 5,30 € per hour. This company does not charge extra for luggage and another interesting argument is that the drivers accept small pets.

GARE ROUTIÈRE (AUTOBUSNI KOLODVOR)

Bus and coach

From the airport, if you take the shuttle bus, you will arrive at the terminus of this bus station. Nearby, tram and bus lines drop you off at the train station in the historic centre (tram no. 6). This bus station is not very attractive, with its large concrete spaces and its shopping arcades in the basement, but the services are there: tourist information office, tickets for urban and regional lines, lockers, exchange and cash withdrawal...

CROATIA BUS

Coach operator

A national company, with offices located in the bus station, which provides several connections to the country's major cities, as well as international routes (Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, for example, taking around 12 hours, with stops and breaks in roadside restaurants). Buses and coaches are often comfortable, but the journeys are long and the speed moderate, especially on the coast where the steep terrain calls for even greater caution. To get from Dubrovnik to Zagreb.

FUNICULAIRE (USPINJAČA)

Public transport

As the metal structure of the elevator has remained unchanged since its construction in the late 19th century, the funicular is listed as a Croatian historical monument. It is therefore more of a tourist attraction than a real means of transport up to Kaptol, in the upper town. The short ride offers beautiful views of the historic center. On arrival, it drops you off near the Lotrščak tower on Strossmayerovo šetalište alley, where you'll find a tourist information office and other panoramic viewpoints.

GARE FERROVIAIRE (ŽELJEZNIČKA KOLODVOR)

Railway company

Dating back to the end of the 19th century, this station remains a beautiful classic showcase because it was never caught in an interlacing of rails in the open air. The building has a neoclassical pediment, a royal staircase and frontispieces. The much redesigned interior is less impressive. There you will find luggage lockers, cafe-bars and some shops. Regional trains but also connections to Rijeka, Karlovac or Zadar by night train and then connection to Knin (end of journey by bus).
