MIRABELA FORTRESS
A powerful stronghold that kept watch over the advancing Ottomans. Pirates then used it to attack Venetian ships.
The stronghold was built in the Middle Ages to keep an eye on the advancing Ottomans. But it was the former Omiš pirates who really made the most of it! They had perfect visibility of maritime traffic, particularly Venetian ships returning from the Orient laden with precious materials. The pirates could see without being seen. When a galleon came ashore, they jumped into their fast little boats to surround it. Then they would assault the crew with arrows and bravery, take control on board and seize the spoils.
