Castles to visit

The bishops of Poreč ruled Vrsar from the 6th century until the end of the 18th century. The medieval castle, which served as their secondary residence, was built on the hill'soppidum. Adjacent to the fort, the church of Sveti Martin and the bell tower dominate the town. The castrum, with a residential area and stables, was extended, secularized and nationalized in 1778 by the Venetians. Renovated in 2001, the private castle offers a large apartment for seasonal rental.
