Read moreTo the south of the city, on the road to Rovinj, the Croatian coast was invaded by water when the ice melted and gave rise to this inlet, dominated by high rock walls. The fjord formed naturally by entering the land like a canal. The dense and varied vegetation is now protected in a nature reserve. The site mouth can be visited by road. Trails run along the banks. By boat, sea excursions from Rovinj, Poreč or Pula. All of them stop there but some do not dock.

Read moreThe bishops of Poreč ruled Vrsar from the 6th century until the end of the 18th century. The medieval castle, which served as their secondary residence, was built on the hill'soppidum. Adjacent to the fort, the church of Sveti Martin and the bell tower dominate the town. The castrum, with a residential area and stables, was extended, secularized and nationalized in 1778 by the Venetians. Renovated in 2001, the private castle offers a large apartment for seasonal rental.
