VANIKÖY
Vaniköy is known for its elegant yalı (villas). Further on, in Kandilli, it is quiet, like the mosque of Iskender Paşa, its fountain (facing the quay) and its colourful boats. Not to mention the panoramic view of the Bosphorus and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. The observatory, on the heights, houses about 1,300 astronomy books, written in three languages (Turkish, Persian and Arabic). Just after the Göksü river, the fortress gave its name to the district. This is where the dean of yalı (1699), the Amcazade Hüseyin Paşa, is located.
