Not recommended by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Situated in a depression, the Bahareyya oasis, comprising the villages of El-Qasr and Bawiti, is surrounded by black hills. Most of the villages and cultivated land can be seen from the 50 m-high Jebel Al Mi'ysrah. Comprising four scattered settlements, this oasis, linked to Cairo by an asphalt road, occupies a strategic position at the crossroads of the Siwa and Farafra routes. Wildlife is abundant, especially birds. Renowned for its springs, Bahareyya is also known for its music and poetry recitals.
