TOMBS OF QARET QASR ES-SELIM

Two large tombs from Dynasty ^XXVI are buried beneath the Baouit hill. Entrance is via two 5-metre-deep shafts leading to a main hypostyle hall, supported by 4 square columns and surrounded by adjacent rooms. The frescoes are of high quality and the colors have retained their freshness. The figurative themes depict the lives of the deceased and their confrontation with the deities they honor in death.
