Egypt's first smooth-faced pyramid is the most spectacular monument at Dachour.

Dachour's most spectacular monument, with its taut silhouette, is Egypt's first smooth-faced pyramid. It is now open to visitors, with staircases leading up to the burial chamber. In fact, the architects of Snefru's time (Old Kingdom) modified the plans during construction, which for once were revised downwards. Starting from a broad base, the monument's inclination was accentuated and its height reduced, saving a great deal of material. Its burial chamber was never used.

Cette pyramide constitue un peu le "brouillon" des suivantes. Elle ne se visite en effet pas mais cette ébauche mérite le coup d'oeil.

la toute première pyramide d'Egypte, elle ne se visite pas, le site est vraiment intéressant avec des tombes bien conservées. Il faut se méfier des personnes qui veulent vous faire payer pour la visite des tombes en vous faisant croire que c'est fermé!!!
