This covered souk, built in the century, is the only known architectural example in Cairo.
This covered souk, the only known architectural example in Cairo, was built in the 17th century. Between the two buildings there is a beautiful wooden ceiling with horizontal windows giving more natural light to the street. This is where the Khayameyas Corporation, the weavers who specialize in making patterns applied to fabrics, were established. The real name of this covered market, although little known, is the Radouan "qasaba".
