This small mameluke mosque built in 1752 is the most northerly building of an impressive succession of religious monuments forming a facade of great beauty, with Madrassa Zahir Barquq and Madrassa and Maristan Mansour Qalaoon. Sultan Hassan Katkhuda was an enlightened leader who restored many monuments in Cairo, and in particular increased the mosque in el-Azhar.
