Luxury hotel featuring private villas with refined restaurant, cocktail bar, spa and swimming pool, directly on Pajé beach.

Ideally situated on one of the island's most beautiful beaches at Paje, on Zanzibar's southeast coast, Kisiwa on the Beach is nestled in a lush tropical garden and bordered by a pristine white sand beach. An intimate, luxurious address made up exclusively of private villas on an immense property. The architecture and decor are inspired by Swahili architectural traditions, blending carved wood, fabrics in soothing marine colors and natural materials to create an elegant, Zen atmosphere. Its sumptuous swimming pool and quiet beach, separated from the hotel by a carpet of vegetation, are a real asset. An original botanical garden is located within the hotel grounds. A second Kisiwa address exists in a historic sultan's house in the heart of Stone Town.

The villas. The resort boasts 22 spacious, comfortable villas, all designed to offer privacy, serenity and Zanzibar charm. Each villa has a large private terrace, an elegant bathroom with bathtub and modern amenities (air conditioning, minibar, safe, wifi). All can accommodate two adults and two children, combining luxurious comfort with Swahili authenticity. The Bahari Beachfront Pool Villas are the most exclusive, located directly on the beachfront with a private pool and breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. The interior architecture of these villas is exceptional, with backlit alcoves, tropical woodwork and tastefully detailed furnishings. The Bahari Grand Pool Villas and Raha Luxury Pool Villas, rocks away from the beach and the main pool, also offer spacious, light-filled rooms and a private pool. Set further back, the Raha Luxury Villas offer a cosy atmosphere and close proximity to the beach, while the Starehe Luxury Villas, nestled in the gardens, offer a calm, green environment, and some can be joined for families.

The restaurant. Bembe offers fresh, creative cuisine featuring local Zanzibar produce: freshly caught fish, fragrant spices, seasonal vegetables and tropical fruits. Served al fresco, meals are enjoyed facing the pool and ocean, in an elegant atmosphere. The plate of grilled octopus, gambas, fish and lobster is exceptional for its tenderness, freshness and flavor. The Poa Bar, located next to the restaurant, is the ideal place to enjoy a sunset cocktail or relax after a day of sightseeing. On request, the hotel also organizes private barbecues on the beach, in a romantic and magical setting.

Pool and beach. A large swimming pool lined with deckchairs and tropical vegetation invites you to relax. It's truly magnificent, set in front of a row of coconut palms and facing the beach. Many villas also have their own private pool, offering a more intimate luxury. The white-sand beach, directly accessible from the villas, stretches as far as the eye can see along the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Traditional deckchairs are set under makuti straw huts in the sand.

The spa. Designed according to the principles of Feng Shui, the Blossom Spa is a veritable bubble of well-being, offering an experience in harmony with nature. Its carefully landscaped garden inspires serenity. Holistic massages, scrubs, hot stone treatments and beauty rituals such as facials, manicures and pedicures are on offer, as are duo massages. Let yourself be enveloped by the expert hands of our therapists and experience a moment of deep, rejuvenating relaxation.

We have spent 6 nights at the hotel and I would say my review is 50/50. There were things which are wow, amazing but there was always smth spoiling the mood. Reservation is hard. We are from Belarus and booking com is not working and our cards are not working as well. I requested from the hotel to pay at the reception as it is a low season and half of the rooms are empty they denied. So it was very hard to communicate. Another thing - half board. It is not a half board. It’s not mentioned anywhere neither on their website nor in booking com that half board does not includes drinks. Basically it’s just a food. Even water you have to buy and it is not cheap. The prices are like in Maldives but the service is not. I broke partially my tooth with the soup at my last dinner as there were bones inside and even my friend found the same. The hotel staff was notified. Last day during check out I found extra 10 $ charge for smth I never consumed and it took a lot of time for them to remove that charge. The beach is not for swimming you have to go to the Nest Hotel or somewhere else.

Good things: the staff are very kind and cute, everyone is friendly. Special thanks to the housekeeping team - outstanding job done. The waiters and waitresses are amazing, especially Viktor. They made my birthday memorable and it was fantastic. The food is nice as well. It is a half board, breakfast is always the same but you have enough meals to choose from and if you have a tour you can request for the breakfast on the go. Dinner was different-it was sometimes a small buffet, local food, Italian and etc. So it was enough definitely.
Overall I would recommend it to my friends, but definitely there should be some improvements. My advisor is to change a half board concept, maybe the hotel can get some sub boards or bicycles ???? for the guests to enjoy their time more and for free. Not all things have to be paid for.

This place is extremely over priced and extra charged on basically everything.
Rooms had coakroaches, fridge not working, and toilet and shower blocked.
Management says their “hands are tied” ??
I most certainly do not recommend this resort. Do your research before visiting this Island.

Really beautiful resort. It's a good size, so it's well maintained and fun to play with. It's nice to play in the pool, and although the beach in front isn't private, it's no different from being private because few other people come here. The staff are all fun and friendly.

If you're having a hard time picking a hotel in Zanzibar, I have good news: you don't need to look any further. Kisiwa on the Beach and its other property, Kisiwa House (in Stonetown), are both luxurious hotels at great price points - especially when you consider the value. I would say that Kisiwa on the Beach has a five-star hotel level of service, amenities, aesthetics, and food/beverage. I have food restrictions and the staff had no trouble accommodating me. I was stunned by how delicious even simple food (like a vegetable wrap) was. They clearly put a lot of effort into everything. We had originally booked at another well-reviewed property in Paje, but we checked out early from that place because it was just not meeting our expectations. We walked into Kisiwa on the Beach and knew we had made the right choice. The photos do not do it justice. The rooms are spacious and contemporary, and the pool and beach lounge areas are quiet and beautiful. Everyone who works here is so friendly and happy to help in any way they can. We will only be staying at Kisiwa House and Kisiwa on the Beach when we visit Zanzibar in the future.
