In the foothills of the Rila, in the heart of the forest, the village of Belitsa is known for the reserve of dancing bears, 12 km from the village. These last kilometers are to be done on a bumpy road. The Austrian NGO Four Paws and the Brigitte Bardot Foundation have created this rehabilitation park in the wild to save the bears that were used as street attractions. Each bear has its own territory with access to water and space for climbing. Their food is deliberately hidden in different places in the park, so that the bears can regain their reflexes as in a natural and wild environment.
