Carcar is on the bus route to Bato or Moalboal, 33 km south of Cebu. Jeepneys stop in this village nestled in the countryside, with its ancient Spanish-style houses. During the Kabkaban festival, in honor of patron saint Catherine of Alexandria (November 24 and 25), residents invite family and friends over for a festive meal that drags on and on. Foreign visitors are also welcome. The meals feature delicious local specialties. The Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria, completed in 1875, is well worth a visit, as is the well-preserved colonial-style dispensary.
