This chapel houses a magnificent altarpiece attributed to Pierre Vaneau, from the convent of Sainte-Marie au Puy
Situated in the heart of Saugues, built in 1681 and extended in 1723. Destroyed by the great fire of 1788, it was quickly rebuilt by the white penitents. Confiscated by the State, it was bought by a penitent in 1800. It is classified as a historical monument. You can admire a magnificent altarpiece attributed to Pierre Vaneau, from the convent of Sainte-Marie au Puy. Today the Haute-Loire has only four brotherhoods of penitents in Sainte-Sigolène, Tence, Le Puy-en-Velay and Saugues, that is to say about forty members. Procession on Holy Thursday.
