CURRENCY THEATRE
The Brussels Opera is a European avant-garde stage, but also the starting point of the Belgian revolution of 1830.
A prestigious stage from the 19th century to the First World War, it then sank into difficulties - illuminated only by Béjart and his Ballet du XXe siècle. La Monnaie regained its splendor in the 1980s and is now one of Europe's leading stages, particularly for contemporary dance and opera. It is said that it was following an opera in 1830 that the Belgians made "their revolution" for Belgian independence. In the 19th century, the Opéra de la Monnaie played an important role in introducing Wagner to French-speaking audiences.
