The tradition of puppet shows dates back to the17th-century ban on Dutch-language theaters, whose plays displeased the Spanish authorities. The show, reduced to its miniature, derisive and sarcastic actors, was performed in cellars. The Théâtre de Toone strives to keep alive the spirit of the puppet theaters of yesteryear, popular in the old Netherlands. The plays are now performed in French, with a sprinkling of Brussels expressions, while remaining understandable to French speakers.

Incroyable que ce petit théâtre de marionnettes situé à deux pas de la Grand Place. Une véritable immersion dans le Bruxelles d'autrefois (comparable au Tchantchès liégeois pour ceux qui connaissent). Malgré la longueur du spectacle (2h, entracte compris ce qui pourrait paraître long pour des jeunes enfants), nos deux petits bouts et nous même ne nous sommes pas embêtés une seule minute. Chapeau à toute l'équipe ! L'endroit dispose également d'un magnifique estaminet au l'on peut déguster de nombreuses bières (locales ou non).

Vieux théâtre de marionnettes à l'ancienne, en bruxellois. Une vraie perle située au centre de bruxelles près de la rue des bouchers! Entrées peu chères par rapport à une pièce de théatre! Un vrai plaisir!! Lors de l'entracte, petit bar situé dans une pièce "musée" où on peut observer d'anciennes marionnettes. Un vrai plaisir!

I love this place. 4 shows according to the seasons. Puppet show to brussellair some. For those who do not understand French I is not, not always easy to follow. Allows to (Re) discover the classics with a touch of humour. You can also eat and enjoy beers.
