To 32 km of Puno, on the road of Juliaca, the peninsula of Sillustani shelters monuments among the most mysterious of Peru. We would be in presence of a cemetery of the colla culture (1000 to 1400 of our era) that would have used the Incas. The external walls of the chullpas (the tombs) are of Inca influence. The circular buildings sheltered mummies that one introduced by a back door located at their base. On the most important of these towers, the Torre de la Lagartija (of the lizard) and that of the Serpiente (of the snake) are engraved figures of these two sacred animals. Two circles dedicated to the moon and the sun continue, a thousand years after they were drawn, to attract eccentric illuminated people or sorcerers who come to pray, invoke a god, or cast an evil spell. So it is not uncommon to see crowds in the late afternoon and around midnight. Overlooking Lake Umayo and a flat island where only shamans are allowed to walk, the site of Sillustani gives off fabulous energy waves.
