The best restaurants São Mateus Da Calheta

Overlooking the quays of the small port, this is undoubtedly one of the best fish and shellfish restaurants on the island; don't confuse it with the restaurant of the same name in downtown Angra do Heroísmo. The food here is really good and the prices quite democratic. We recommend the fish soup or the grilled octopus. The wine list is comprehensive. As for the service, it's perfect and on a par with the dishes. Don't forget to book, because when it's fabulous and you're in a small town, places are expensive!

With its large windows facing the ocean, Quebra Mar offers a superb view of the coast between São Mateus da Calheta and Angra do Heroísmo and a menu that highlights local products and specialties from the island of Terceira.

In a large, bright room, this is another excellent address in the port to enjoy freshly caught fish of the day. Of course, you can also feast on seafood thanks to the beautiful proposals on the menu and some well prepared meat dishes for the carnivores

The setting is that of a restored old farmhouse. Everything is there: cow wood cutlery, sandstone plates, olive oil lamps, endemic plants for aperitifs, even the real wooden spade! The cuisine, typical, is well thought out. Try the Holy Spirit soup, if you haven't already done so. Otherwise, let yourself be tempted by sausages, sausages and other sweet potatoes. The flavoured coffee is delicious. And if you are lucky, the chef will come out of his kitchen and share with you his passion and maybe some of his secrets!

This is a small and unpretentious address and a very good plan for the small budgets who want to taste the good regional products of Terceira proposed by Roberto. Salads, seafood or nice pieces of meat are on the menu. Simple and efficient! Reservation recommended in high season
