Overlooking the quays of the small port, this is undoubtedly one of the best fish and shellfish restaurants on the island; don't confuse it with the restaurant of the same name in downtown Angra do Heroísmo. The food here is really good and the prices quite democratic. We recommend the fish soup or the grilled octopus. The wine list is comprehensive. As for the service, it's perfect and on a par with the dishes. Don't forget to book, because when it's fabulous and you're in a small town, places are expensive!

Chouette restaurant en front de mer à Sao Mateus, sur le port.
Victime de son succès, beaucoup d'agitation a l'interieur. Plats copieux.

Très chouette restaurant de poissons. La salle domine le petit port. Super accueil. On choisit son poisson au travers d'une vitrine-frigo. Super frais. Conseil: en entrée, quelques CRACAS (bernacles) crues, comme une huître, et quelques LAPAS (patelles) cuites. Un régal.

Le restaurant se trouve à environ 10-15km à l'ouest d'Angra sur la côte sud. Il faut aller en voiture jusqu'au port maritime de Sao Mateus, mais ça vaut la peine. De plus il est important de réserver au plus tard à midi pour le même soir, car le restaurant est toujours plein à partir de 19 heures. Demander Katia, car elle parle très bien l'anglais, elle est très efficace et peut vous conseiller dans vos choix. Il y a un large choix de poisson frais, homards et langoustes vivantes et fruits de mer locaux dont il faut goûter les patelles (limpets) et balanes (kracas). S'il fait beau, les meilleurs places sont sur la terrasse avec vue sur le port .
